If you hold a singleton, a 5-tree is always possible, but if you draw 5 new cards, the first card might match one of your discards (happens more than 30% of the time). It's generally better to hold a singleton than draw 5 new cards partly because a 5-tree pays so much in this game. This will not win too often, but it's the best you can do if you don't have any of the better holds listed above. But the most important strategy: keep your fingers crossed and hope for 5 of a kind.
